The multifaceted Jayantibhai A. Patel or Dada as he is fondly known.

The Businessman: Dada started his optical business journey in October 1957 at a young age of 20 with the launch of the 1st store of ‘Nagar Chasmaghar’ in Ahmedabad. With his commitment, perseverance and dedication and with the unending support of the family, the business continued to expand with branches opening on C. G. Road (1987) and Satellite area (1999). Today the business stands tall with the recent launch of our 4th branch- a state of art showroom at Bopal Ambli junction in 2019.

The Educationst: A strong believer of education, he completed his formal optometry education from S.M.Bose college in Calcutta & in 1972 went to London College of Optometry for advanced training in fitting of Contact lenses. He was an active member of the Japan Research Society & The British Contact Lens Association during his time.

A visionary that Jayanti Dada is, he started the Nagar school of Optometry in Ahmedabad , the first of its kinds in Gujarat in 2004. Today the school runs a Bachelors, Masters and a PhD program under the Gujarat university.

He has been a part of the organizing committee at many Optometry Conferences in India, He has been awarded on several occasions, and has also been awarded the OPTOMETRIST OF THE YEAR in 2005 and a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD in 2019.

The Philanthropist: ‘Eyecare and eyewear for one and all’ was always Dada’s Moto. He has been involved in the Indian Redcross and actively served at Bhuj during the devastating earthquakes of 2001. In 2005 he initiated the Sanjeevani Health and Relief Committee a NGO as a principle donor and also donated a well-equipped ophthalmic mobile van in 2008 to serve over 40 villages around Ahmedabad. Today thousands of people receive eyecare and free spectacles through this program.
